Does your university as a body, through international collaboration and research, review comparative approaches and develop international best practice on tackling the SDGs?
To meet its vision of expanding its international influence, the University established the International Cooperation and Exchange Committee to determine, plan, and review the strategy and direction of its overall international exchange programmes, and to promote international cooperation and exchange. To ensure the effectiveness of the Committee, the University formulated the ‘Key Points of Establishing the International Cooperation and Exchange Committee’, ‘Key Points in Assisting International Symposiums’, and ‘Methods and Principles in Assisting Teachers and Researchers’ Participation in International Conferences and Presentations’. In addition to investing school funds to facilitate the participation of teachers and students in international conferences and Learning/Teaching Away from Home Programmes, the University has invested NT$200,000 per year to support each college to promote international exchange since 2014. The goals are to enhance the international mobility of teachers and students and improve the international competitiveness of the University.
To promote international cooperation and in response to the ‘MOE Subsidy Directions for Encouraging Universities to Select Students to Study Abroad or to Enter Internship Programs’, the University formulated the ‘Subsidy Guidelines for MOE Study Abroad Series Projects’ and ‘Subsidy Directions for Overseas Learning Away from Home Programmes and Internships’. Together with government fund programmes (such as the Scholarships for Excellent Students to Study Abroad, Pilot Overseas Internships, and Programme for Promoting Teaching Excellence Universities), the University supports and encourages students to participate in exchange programmes and internships and pursue further education abroad. The scholarships granted to students with the assistance of the University from the Study Abroad Series Projects increased from NT$1,392,000 in 2015 to NT$3,408,000 in 2018. During the school year 2015 to 2017, 484 scholarships were granted. In recent years, the University has established various alumni associations and offices in Hong Kong, Macao, and countries included in the New Southbound Policy to develop networks with overseas academia and alumni and utilise corresponding resources and networks to actively establish fruitful partnerships with local industries and academic communities. These partnerships include arranging for groups of teachers and students to visit local enterprises and work as interns in the corresponding enterprises with the aim of expanding learning opportunities for our students. 學海飛颺計畫補助情形 The Operation of Scholarships for Excellent Students to Study Abroad (單位:萬元) (Unit: Ten thousand NTD)
