NCUE, Hexi University Expect to Build Partnership
 
Hexi University from Mainland China came to visit recently in the hope of building a cooperative partnership with NCUE, particularly laying emphasis upon the fields of teacher training and technological and vocational education. Both universities have been through a major transforming from normal universities into comprehensive ones.
 
Hexi University, located in Zhangye City of Gansu Province, was established in 2001. Its predecessor was Zhangye Normal School, which was founded in 1941. In 2015, the school was listed as one of the first Pilot Schools for Transformation and Development in Gansu. Currently Hexi University has 54 undergraduate majors, the most in Gansu, and nearly 20000 students. NCUE Vice Principal Ming-Fei, Chen paid a visit to Hexi University last year.
 
The members of the visiting group led by Director Tingliang Yan of the Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Office included the superintendents from the Party, the Department of Literature, and the Department of Fine Arts, as well as the Principal of Shandan Peili School in Zhangye City. Cindy Huang, Dean of the Office of International and Cross-strait Affairs at NCUE, hosted the welcoming meeting.
 
At the meeting, both sides extensively exchanged views on cooperation issues. Since the two universities have similar features that include a transformation from teacher-training institutions into comprehensive ones, they look forward to carrying out further exchanges of faculty and students so as to establish a closer partnership.
