Macao HS Teachers Come to NCUE Workshops, Having Rewarding Experience from Activities

Following the visit of the Hong Kong delegation, about 30 high school principals and teachers from Macao recently came to NCUE to participate in the workshops on guidance and counseling, and school administration and marketing. According to the visitors, this visit was a very rewarding experience. Based on the fact that NCUE was awarded in 2017 by the Ministry of Education for its excellent international student counseling, NCUE President Yen-Kuang Kuo looks forward to seeing more students from Macao on NCUE campus. NCUE undertakes that they will be taken care of properly. Currently, the number of overseas Chinese students from Macao at NCUE is second only to that of Malaysia.

The delegation took part in two workshops, namely “Guidelines for the Implementation of College Guidance and Counselling” hosted by Dr. Chia-Ling Lo, Director of Student Psychological Counseling and Guidance Center, and "New Type of School Leadership and Marketing " hosted by Dr. Kuo-Chen Lin, Director of the Graduate Institute of Education. Guided by the lecturers, the visitors also visited the facilities in the Student Psychological Counseling and Guidance Center, and Community Counseling & Human Development Service Center. During the period, Dean Ming-Cheng Wu of the College of Extension Education and Director Hsun-Sheng Wu of the Department of Special Education introduced them to NCUE’s overseas graduate programs and the professional development of teacher’s training in special education at NCUE. The Office of International and Cross-strait Affairs then illustrated the services offered for overseas Chinese students. Some of the students from Macao were also present to share their experiences studying at NCUE.

Because the workshops met the needs of the teachers from Macao and gave the opportunity for them to brainstorm in educational ideas, they received great feedback from the participants. According to the visitors, they were impressed by the enthusiasm, seriousness, vigor, and care of NCUE faculty and students. NCUE was the most impressive destination during their visit to Taiwan this time.

The leader of the delegation, Principal Huang, pointed out that NCUE President Kuo realizes the needs of local high schools in Macao such as “integrated education” through regular visits there. The workshops echoed this demand, confirming the concept that “Education offers support for each student with different learning needs”. He believes that this trip is not an end but a start and they will continue to visit NCUE in the future.
