Department of Biology to Develop Cooperation Schemes with Korean Pukyong National University

Department of Biology recently discussed with Pukyong National University in Korea about developing cooperation schemes. Both sides highly expect to create dual-degree programs. Currently, NCUE offers dual-degree programs in Business Administration, Physics, Guidance & Counseling, Accounting, and Computer Science with partner universities in the U.S. and Australia.

NCUE and Pukyong National University established the partnership in 2014. NCUE has sent students to Pukyong for exchange studies or international summer camp since. The Dean of the Office of International Affairs at Pukyong National University, Dr. Youngjin Kim, led a delegate to NCUE in the hope of furthering the cooperative relationship between the two institutions.

Dean Cindy Huang of the NCUE International Office hosted the meeting for discussion. Chair Chuan-Fu Keng and Professor Chi-Ying Lee of the Department of Biology were present. Both sides agreed on developing dual-degree programs, and expressed their hope that they start undertaking a curriculum mapping. It is expected that the cooperation involves the field of marine biology or biotechnology. In addition, the Department of Biology offering intern opportunities for Pukyong students to fulfill their needs was discussed. Other issues, such as international summer camps and the internship with credits were also involved.
