NCUE Int’l Summer Camp Concludes Successfully with Everyone Expecting to Visit Taiwan Again

NCUE International Summer Camp came to an end. Not only did the 22 participants from five countries go to basic Chinese and culture classes, but they also personally experienced local cultures by visiting different spots and joining hands-on practice. NCUE “international ambassadors” offering assistance along the way developed a close bond with the campers. Many campers indicated that this camp is one of their best memories in life, and they look forward to visiting Taiwan again. It shows the Camp and the international ambassadors successfully fulfilled the mission of citizen diplomacy for Taiwan.

The camp attendees came from the United Kingdom, Thailand, India, Malaysia and Brunei. During the weeklong camp, aside from classroom training, they visited the Lukang Old Street, Fenjia Night Market, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, Sun Moon Lake, among others; also they experienced folk arts of lion head painting at the Longshan Temple and leather coin bag making at the Shen Ji New Villag. They not only practiced spoken Chinese that they had just learned through the camp program but also investigated local customary practice while visiting Central Taiwan to learn further about this country.

The camp attendees were impressed by the activities that make them feel falling in love with Taiwan and expect to come again in the future. They expressed their wish that the session length for the Camp could have been longer. Some of them look forward to joining the Camp again someday.

A close relationship was established between the attendees and NCUE international ambassadors during the week. The international ambassadors, who were recruited and trained by the Office of International and Cross-strait Affairs, took good care of everything and offered assistance, making the attendees feel heartwarming. According to the attendees, it’s a pity to be with the ambassadors for only a week. Many look forward to seeing each other again.
