Wuyi University Expects Further Cooperation with NCUE

Dean Lu Ming Tien of Strait Chenggong Institute at Wuyi University (WYU), one of NCUE’s partner in Fujian Province of Mainland China, led a delegation to visit NCUE, exchanging views on cooperation in cultivating applied talents. In the past two years, the cooperation in finance field has been positively recognized. WYU looks forward to extending cooperation based on what the two institutions have achieved, and NCUE President Yen-Kuang Kuo looks with favor on it. During the visit, President Lu met with the exchange students from WYU. He expressed his hope that they cherish the opportunity to experience different ways of teaching at NCUE, and share their experience with junior schoolmates at WYU.

Established in 2007, WYU grew out of Nanping Junior Teachers College founded in 1958. WYU became NCUE’s partner university in 2013. The Strait Chenggong Institute was set up for cultivating applied talents. WYU intends to imitate Taiwan’s experience of adopting the advanced idea of academia-industry cooperation and bring in quality teaching and research resources in order to nurture professional talents. Recognizing NCUE’s academic achievement, WYU has sent students to study at the College of Management of NCUE in recent two years.

When meeting with President Kuo, Dean Lu indicated that the students from Strait Chenggong Institute gave great and positive feedback on NCUE’s outstanding teaching resources. WYU, therefore, expects to facilitate cooperation in other fields, such as Fine Arts. President Kuo looks favor on it since the development of cooperation with Chinese academic institutions is an important part of his governing strategy and he is looking forward to paying a visit to WYU in the future.

Both sides exchanged views on future cooperation issues at the welcome meeting hosted by NCUE Vice President Ming-Fei Chen. Dean Lu invited NCUE to participate in the development of WYU’s provincial-level research platform in humanity and social science. The visitors later met with the exchange students from Strait Chenggong Institute. According to the students, NCUE teachers make them feel cared for so they enjoy rich human kindness in Taiwan. Besides, teachers offer bilingual education, help solve problems with schoolwork conscientiously, use research papers in teaching, and provide actual cases to classes, showing their ardor for teaching that benefits all students.

Dean Lu expressed his hope that, receiving a quality education in Taiwan, the students should cherish this opportunity and manage time wisely so that they could pass on their learning experience in Taiwan to junior schoolmates, and make suggestions to WYU. He also encouraged the students to actively participate in students clubs to blend in with the local community, furthering cross-strait exchange of young people from Taiwan and Mainland China.
