NCUE Adds Frankfurt UAS as Partner University

Right after the visit from Vice President Matthias Knaut of the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, Deputy Director Friederike Schoefisch of the International Office at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS) came visit NCUE to sign a cooperation agreement and to offer the students interested in studying in Germany advice on related issues. The establishment of partnership with Frankfurt UAS gives NCUE students further opportunity to exchange abroad.

Frankfurt is the largest city in central and southwestern Germany and serves as an important gateway to Europe. It is also the major financial center of the European continent with the HQs of the European Central Bank and the German Federal Bank. NCUE President Yen-Kuang Kuo led a delegation to visit Germany at the end of 2016, but did not meet with Director Schoefisch. Recently Director Schoefisch took advantage of attending an international conference held in Taiwan to pay a visit to NCUE.

President Kuo bade Deirctor Schoefisch welcome and asked her to extended an invitation to President Frank Dievernich of Frankfurt UAS to visit NCUE. He stated that NCUE and Frankfurt UAS share much in common in the fields of IT, engineering and business administration, so establishing a partnership fits the needs of both universities. He pointed out that NCUE is located in a nearby city of Taichung metropolitan area of central Taiwan with good public transit and is surrounded by a few tourist attractions. Besides, each exchange students at NCUE are assigned by the university a school buddy to offer help when needed. Over the years the German exchange students have had a good time at NCUE.

According to President Kuo, a few facilities and buildings are currently being constructed and expected to be completed by the end of his term of office to provide students a better learning environment. He looks forward to Frankfurt UAS students joining NCUE family to facilitate cultural exchange between students.

Director Schoefisch conveyed President Dievernich’s greetings to President Kuo. She indicated that it is encouraging that NCUE and Frankfurt UAS have reached an agreement to become partners in a short period of time. It paves the way for future collaboration and exchange. This is her first time to come to Taiwan and she is impressed by the friendliness of Taiwanese people. That changes her only impression of Taiwan being an electronics manufacturing country. According to Director Schoefisch, Frankfurt plays a more important role in the European Union after Brexit. Since Frankfurt UAS located in central Frankfurt is a practice-oriented institution with a strong research profile, it is expected that its teachers and students will benefit from the Brexit.

Director Schoefisch than joined a meeting talking with the students interested in studying in Europe. It is known that there is at least one student planning to go to Frankfurt UAS for exchange study.
