A group of 80-some people organized by Japanese “Taiwan Study Support Center” (the Center) visited NCUE at the end of 2017 to get a deeper understanding of NCUE for Japanese high school students wishing to study abroad. In “The Guide of Studying in Taiwan” published by the Center, NCUE is listed as one of the recommended universities. The Vice President Chi-ting Lin of the Center esteemed that NCUE is a quality university with good amenities and that overseas students are well taken care of. Currently, there are three Japanese students in Business Administration, Fine Arts, and Sports at NCUE.

The Center is a nonprofit organization founded in Ibaraki, Japan in 2010 by Ms. Ambiru Miho, who used to study in Taiwan. It actively promotes higher education and linguistic education in Taiwan and offers help to Japanese high school students who wish to study in Taiwan. Currently, the Center has offices in a few cities of Japan, such as Tokyo and Osaka, to provide service to hundreds of high schools.

In 2016, the Center led a delegation to visit NCUE and signed a memorandum to promote mutual exchanges between Taiwan and Japan.

Led by Vice President Lin, the delegation this time consisted of Ms. Ambiru Yoriko, CEO of the Center, the principal and vice principal of the Taiwan Preparation School, as well as many high school teachers and students’ parents.

In addition to introducing NCUE’s features and advantages to the visitors, NCUE President Kuo illustrated the preferential policy for foreign students applying for admissions. He encourages Japanese students to study at NCUE, further promoting the multicultural experience of Taiwanese students. Vice President Lin of the Center indicated that NCUE is not only a quality university but also nestles in a neighborhood with good amenities. Further, NCUE has been known for the care of international students. The Center will continue encouraging Japanese students to study at NCUE based on the good experience of former students.

On that day, a Japanese student in Business Administration at NCUE shared his experience of studying here with the visitors. He advised of what the students should get well prepared before studying abroad and that they should develop essential self-management skills for their overseas studies. He also described his life and the daily routine as a college student in Taiwan.

Most of the visiting students have been planning to study in Taiwan and have been studying Chinese for a while. Three of them from Okinawa, Hokkaido, and Miyagi were invited to introduce themselves in Chinese and explained why they intend to study in Taiwan. They got a big hand for their fluent Chinese.
